Avilla Christmas Charities, which is a group of volunteers from the Avilla Chamber membership and from the churches of St. Mary of Assumption, Immanuel Lutheran and Avilla United Methodist, have been raising funds throughout the year and are working on additional activities, such as a hat and glove drive and food and toy drives, as well as the Annual Christmas Benefit Turkey Dinner to be able to help provide a joyful and happy Christmas to children and families in the Avilla and LaOtto area.
Immanuel will again be receiving funds to purchase and distribute the gifts and food. Keep this in mind as we will be asking for the congregations help like we did last year! Thank you.

ADVENT SERVICES will be on Wednesday evenings December 5th, 12th, and 19th at 7PM.

CHRISTMAS EVE POINSETTIA SIGN UP SHEET is on the table in the east entrance. They will be single red poinsettia’s for $13:00 each. Any poinsettia’s ordered we will place your name in them. You may also bring in you own poinsettia by the morning of December 23rd. Please place you name on the poinsettia. You may take your poinsettia’s home after Candlelight Service Christmas Eve. Deadline to order is December 9th.

THE 2019 ALTAR FLOWER CHART is up! The cost is $30 for the 2 vases. If in memory of someone or in honor of a special occasion, please make a note of that. Make checks payable to Immanuel Chancel Society and place it in their drawer in the east entrance.

CHANCEL SOCIETY sign up sheet for 2019 is up in the Chancel Room on the inside of the 2nd upper cupboard door. Anyone interested in joining us please contact one of the Chancel members.

CHRISTMAS GIFTS – Would you like to remember our Pastor & Seminarians Caleb and Matthew with a special gift at Christmas time? You may place your gift in a envelope, clearly marked with the Pastor’s, Caleb’s or Matthew’s name and put it in the offering plate.

CHURCH DECORATING On December 2nd we will be decorating the church for Christmas following morning service. All members are
welcome and encouraged to come and help prepare for the celebration of Christ’s birth. We will be taking the decorations down following morning service on December 30th.

On Sunday, December 9th from 1p.m. to 2p.m. All Immanuel children are invited to join Bridge Builders in helping with the Red Kettle collection at Kendallville Kroger Supermarket at the entrance – all proceeds go to Common Grace. The kids should come at 1 p.m. to help ring the bell for one hour. The children will be outside so dress appropriately. Some of us will be staying an additional hour, until 3p.m. because they have two-hour slots; anyone is welcome to stay or come at that time if they cannot come earlier. This is a wonderful way for kids to help their neighbors and learn to share God’s love at Christmas time!

BRIDGE BUILDERS will begin our second semester on Monday, January 7 and continue for ten weeks ending on March 11. We have received suggestions from the Bridge Builders on topics to explore, and crafts. Based on their input, we will be exploring why Jesus needed to die for us, and we will have at least one wood craft that will take a few sessions to complete. We are looking forward to second semester with your children and seeing new faces too!
